I know this is a tough decision for some people to make, but if I have to choose between Saddam Hussein and George W. Bush, I stand with George W. Bush. I think we can all agree that Bush 41's decision based on the opinion of Colin Powell to let Mr. Hussein stay after the first Gulf War was not a particularly inspired one. Generally speaking, when a maniacal leader (in this case Saddam Hussein) is allowed to stay in power after an overwhelming military defeat, he agrees to abide by the terms of the victorious party (in this case the world). When the defeated party does not abide by these agreements, it is incumbent upon the victorious party to enforce the obligations of the defeated party. What does this mean in English? Saddam broke every promise he made to keep himself in power in 1991 and it's time to take him out for the sake of our own security, the security of the entire Middle East , and for the freedom of the oppressed Iraqi people.

I also reject the notion that this war is about oil (even though this is the same tired argument that was used during the first Gulf War). Never in the history of humanity has one nation had the ability to dominate the world as the United States does and used that power so sparingly. (Someone explain to me how you impose freedom on someone anyway. It's a fundamental paradox). Even if the war was about oil, it is a valid reason to go to war. Oil is was a driving force powering our economy, which is interlinked to Homeland Security. Also, as a note to you liberals: you don't want us to get our oil from the Middle East, you don't want to drill in ANWR, and you say that Bush is in bed with big oil every time gas prices go up. What do you propose short of all of us living in teepees and riding a carriage into town?

The problem is that some people simply do not believe in the existence of evil, as Saddam Hussein is. Evil cannot be appeased; it cannot be negotiated with; it can only be destroyed. Sometimes the world is black and white instead of shades of gray. I am mystified as to why anyone would think that a world with Saddam Hussein would be better than a world without him.
